Name: Peter Parker
Canon: The Amazing Spider-Man
Canon point: End of TASM2
Age: 18

History:

❝ Your father believed that if you could do good things for other people, you had a moral obligation to do those things! That's what's at stake here; not choice...responsibility. ❞

Personality:
+ SELFLESS. Peter is entirely willing to put others above himself. That can be bodily — like taking hits or worse because he can heal faster than an average human. He sustains plenty of injuries during his super-heroics, and prefers that to the idea of a civilian getting hurt. This consideration for the safety of others is not contingent on liking someone, Peter will go out of his way for absolute strangers and even farther for people he cares about. His selflessness comes out most clearly as Spider-Man, though it can come out as Peter Parker too. He'll agree to help out with tasks if asked, can be guilted easily, and struggles with saying no, even if he should. A good and a bad thing, maybe, though overall Peter is a helpful guy willing to do what he can for others.

+ STRONG MORAL CODE. Thanks to the aunt and uncle that raised him (and the father he barely remembers, who sorta maybe kinda abandoned his son for his principles), Peter has an extremely strong sense of right and wrong. While there's some flexibility in that — such as, fighting crime as a vigilante after warrants were put out for his arrest — in general, Peter has a firm understanding of what he believes in. Peter does not kill, even though he has the power to do so. He never uses more force than he needs to. He subdues nonlethally and often with his webshooters over knocking people out. He dislikes things like deception, theft, and cruelty, pretty much any abuse of power that hurts people that can't fight back against it. Occasionally Peter will bend on his stringent moral code. However, often that blows up in his face and pushes him back on the straight and narrow. See, his uncle dying to the mugger that Peter did not try to stop when he had the chance. He has yet to let himself live that one down.

+ CURIOSITY. It's a good thing there isn't any sayings about spiders and curiosity. Because if there were, Peter would be doomed. He has a terrible knack for getting fixated on something and obsessively exploring it. No matter the dangers, or how many people he trusts have tried to guide him away from it. A great example was when he was looking into his father's research and ended up with superpowers. Another is... when he was researching his father's disappearance and found his secret lab in an abandoned subway station, despite his poor auntie pushed to tears for it. Peter is full of curiosity, scientific and otherwise, and when he gets engaged and excited about a subject, he will devote exhaustive amounts of time to it. That can be a bad thing as well as a good thing, depending on what he's fixating on. Overall, though, it helps him to learn new things and be adaptive, to stay open to discovery.

- GUILTY. Peter has a guilty conscience a mile wide. And while it's not a bad thing, to feel remorse when you've done something wrong, Peter takes it to an entirely different level. He never feels he's done enough, especially when things go wrong. He will assign blame and guilt when it only barely makes sense, like considering himself responsible for Uncle Ben's death for simply not stopping a mugger when he had the chance. Peter believes his position as someone superpowered, combined with the heights of his responsibility, weights his decisions more than the average person. To some extent, he's right; the choices Spider-Man makes can be more important, and can cause a lot more harm than the choices of an average person that can't lift a city bus. However, he takes on guilt like a leaking boat takes on water, to an unhealthy degree. He doesn't forgive himself and constantly doubts whether he's doing the right thing.

- SECRETIVE. While Peter doesn't enjoy lying, he is secretive about certain things in his life. His powers first and foremost. He avoids telling people the truth of what he is and what he can do. Gwen is the only person he has ever told intentionally. Everyone else in his life is kept in the dark, with the intention of protecting them, or found out on accident (and died shortly after. Coincidence? Peter sure doesn't think so). However, Peter's secrecy results in Harry spiraling because he thinks Peter does not care about him, as well as causing Aunt May nights of panic and distress when he comes home beat to hell and refuses to explain why. His secrets hurt people as much as they protect them. However, Peter is even more resolved to keep them after Gwen was killed because of her connection to him.

- LONE WOLF. As the only super in his city that isn't financed by Oscorp or mildly evil (sometimes both!!!), Peter is used to working on his lonesome. He has little experience with working with others, and even then he is known to sideline that person if he is concerned for their safety. See, throwing Gwen out a window, or webbing her to the front of a car. While he was able to learn to be more open and collaborative with her, he immediately regressed after that openness resulted in her death. Peter will deliberately ignore requests and commands, and the will of others, if he thinks they are in danger. Especially if he thinks he can do something to protect them, whether they like it or not.

Powers/Abilities:
MUTATED GENES. Thanks to a radioactive spider-bite, Peter's genetics have been given some unusual properties. He heals faster, takes more hits, and is less prone to reacting to damage than a baseline human. His blood contains these mutated genes and because of this even on a molecular level he heals faster than other humans. Because his mutation is obvious and present in his blood, he is reluctant to give blood or samples that could give his mutation away.

SPIDER SENSES. More or less precognitive, his spider sense warns him about incoming threats and allows him to react incredibly quickly. His reflexes are heightened to match his senses, and he's able to avoid blows he doesn't even see coming because of the combination. That said, he does not have the utmost control over his reactions, either, though his control is greater now than it was when he initially got his powers. Peter's eyesight, hearing, and balance are also enhanced. He can hear things blocks away and things near him more clearly, and he can see things at great distances and no longer needs corrective lenses.

SUPER STRENGTH. Wouldn't be a marvel without it. Peter can lift far more than an average human, able to catch and lift buses full of people and stop trains. He can often break things if he's not being careful. He is also kept incredibly fit and muscular due to his enhanced strength, along with extreme flexibility.

STICKY FINGERS. Sticky everything, really, thanks to some small hairs all over him after his mutation. It allows him to be able to crawl around walls and ceilings like a ... well, you can maybe guess.

Regret: There's quite a few, truth be told. While what happened to Gwen is a major regret, Peter hopes that if he can change the night Uncle Ben died, what happened to Gwen will also be reversed.

IC PERMISSIONS

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Sure! He ... well, he'll be awkward about it. But in general, sure.
ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Absolutely. He's not particularly interested these days (thanks to tragic girlfriend deaths) but still, I'm game!
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yes, sure, but let's chat about it! He doesn't have powers at game start but he will eventually, and he's pretty hard to fight when he does.
DEATH: Sure, but only if we've discussed it ahead of time.
PSYCHIC ABILITIES: Yes, he has no defenses for this! Just please contact me about what would be seen/heard/felt.
MAGIC/ETC.: He'd be weirded out by magic in general but sure, he has no defenses against this! Again, just be in contact with me about what you're going to do with and to him.
IDENTIFYING FEATURES + MEDICAL INFORMATION: Peter is pretty tall and very gangly, his stature and horrible posture (outside of his spider suit) are certainly an identifying feature. He has some freckles and moles, and extremely messy hair. He has an odd talent for being beat to shit all the time.

As far as medical concerns: he heals quickly, thanks to a spider mutation. His heartbeat is faster than a normal human. His genetics are modified due to a radioactive spider-bite, though it's not possible to tell that just looking at him or his blood.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & CONTENT WARNINGS: Peter doesn't tend to get into much offensive stuff, but as a content warning: he did accidentally kill his girlfriend and thinks about it sometimes. Death in general is something that follows him around and might show up in his meta text. Oh, and spiders. Might be some spider talk.

BACKTAGGING: Sure. In general, if it isn't plot centric, I might let some things go at the start of a new month, but I'll let you know if that's the case. I won't drop anything without letting you know!
FOURTHWALLING: I'm fine with it to a certain extent. Calling him out as Spider-Man, sure. Calling him out as Andrew Garfield playing Spiderman from a 2013 movie, no thanks.
THREADHOPPING/JACKING: Sure!
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & CONTENT WARNINGS: Rape & pedophilia are things I'd like to avoid!
ANYTHING ELSE: I'm game for pretty much anything! The biggest thing for me is communication. As long as I have that, I'm happy to maim, murder, or traumatize Peter Parker in more ways than you can imagine.

Background:
❝ Your father believed that if you could do good things for other people, you had a moral obligation to do those things! That's what's at stake here; not choice...responsibility. ❞

Personality: Peter Parker is a hero. That's both a blessing and a curse. It means he has a big heart and a desire to help people. Doesn’t matter who or if they particularly deserve his help, he’s probably going to try anyway. He will go out of his way, even putting himself in danger and hurting himself pretty badly, to protect people that need it. He doesn’t always ask if they want saving, either, he just does it because that’s what he knows. Sometimes he doesn’t stop to think about whether he should be helping, or if he should let people help themselves.

It’s left him with an enormous weight on his shoulders. His Uncle Ben told him that with great power came great responsibility. And that is a lesson he has taken to heart, some might argue too much. Peter will often sacrifice himself and his happiness for the sake of others. He puts aside his wants and his life for his responsibility of being a hero. He isn’t great at blending his vigilante identity with Peter Parker, the normal guy. He feels guilty when he focuses too much on himself, and sometimes it is very hard to get him to slow down and enjoy the little things.

He does enjoy little things, though. He’s a teenager underneath the super strength. He likes to spend time with people he likes; he’s pretty goofy and tends to make dumb jokes. He gets embarrassed pretty easily, and in a lot of ways he’s still learning who he’s going to be, even outside of trying to be a superhero. Which makes it hard to combine the two; in fact, Peter has no interest in trying, especially of late.

Peter has learned that people knowing about his secret identity is pretty much a death sentence. It sends the people after him against the people he loves, and he carries enormous guilt for the death of his on and off girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. While Peter is the one that ultimately killed her, albeit in attempts to save her, he also knows that she never would have been in that situation if the Green Goblin had not been trying to hurt Spider-Man. It put enormous strain on their relationship as Peter tried to protect her from the dangers of his vigilantism, and in the end it was not enough to save her. In a sense he’s very much regressed after Gwen’s death. Getting him to open up to the idea of getting close to people and honest about his abilities will not be a simple task.

In the end, though, it’s easier said than done for him not to care about people. His attempts to keep interactions superficial won’t keep him from caring about people. He cares a lot about people, and he had a strong sense of right and wrong and the need to stand up for people that needed help even before his mutation. Those parts of him are only enhanced now that he feels like it is his responsibility to look out for people that might not be strong enough to stand against the sort of threats he’s used to facing. When he makes a mistake, he feels it deeply, and chances are nobody can ever hold a mistake against him as well as he can.

Peter is also very notably very smart. He’s very intelligent, very capable, and very curious. He was 2nd in his class, capable of making incredible devices (such as his webslinger). That said he does not always commit himself to learning, mostly because he tends to be bored by it. It is hard to keep up with what he’s capable of, and he sees plenty of other things more deserving of his time and attention than homework. It’s part of why he didn’t pursue college after he graduated high school, though when he was intending to attend he was interested in biological physics like his father before him.

He carries a lot of unhappiness and resentment towards his father, though it has abated slightly with the knowledge of what exactly he was giving up in his attempts to protect him. Peter grew up with his aunt and uncle instead of his parents, who were killed when he was very young. He misses his parents intensely and is angry that they were not there for him. He has a strong connection to his aunt, who is his only living relative left. He carries immense guilt for the death of his uncle, and that spurs him to hold onto his advice and his memory.

In the end, he feels a lot of things strongly. Guilt, remorse, anger, happiness. It is not uncommon for him to be blinded by his emotions, and often make choices that are far from the right one when he's acting impulsively. He can be blinded to the truth of even his own actions (believing he was "helping people" searching for the man who killed his uncle), and can be hard to shake from an idea once he is committed to it. Often it takes something very jarring to realize he was wrong.

Ultimately, Peter Parker is a good guy. He can be a little impulsive and certainly a little selfish. He is quick to assume that he needs to do everything on his own, in his desire to protect others. He wants to help people, but he does not always do it in the right way, and he does not always listen to what they have to say in the matter. That said he’s not above learning. He cares immensely about the health and happiness of even absolute strangers, moreso people he cares about, and will always strive to do what he believes to be is the right thing. Even if it isn’t easy. He tries to live up to the responsibility that his power gives him, and even if he’s not a perfect hero, he’s never going to stop trying. He can offer a lot, and he owes it to the world to try and make something of it.
