( he's sort of feeling like the king of suckers, right about now, but hey. it isn't the first time Peter has gotten in too deep and been left to wander the emotional quagmire of caring about someone despite the danger. it's just sort of new that the danger after Matt is often of his own making, instead of the crazy people who hate Spider-Man enough to aim next to him if they have to.
he can't exactly call Matt out for not asking for help, because after all, when was the last time Peter gave that a shot? he tends to run solo, and he does that on purpose, even with Avengers on one side of town and Defenders on another. he keeps to himself, and that's how he likes it. the last time he dragged someone into the fight with him, she ended up on the wrong end of his own web. it is just easier to go alone and take a hit here or there because if he's taking it, nobody else can.
but maybe it is time to make an exception, if it means Matt will spend less nights like this one. ) I am not, ( Peter mutters, but perhaps he is the only one who knows Matt is back to old habits. so at least for tonight, it probably is a good idea to not annoy him, Matt!! though even annoyed, Peter can't manage to take satisfaction in causing Matt pain, so when he has the peroxide ready he warns, ) This is going to suck.
( he already feels guilty about it, but if he doesn't start moving the blood is only going to get worse, not better. so he pulls back the bloodsoaked gauze already present (at least Matt got that far) to disinfect the wound, he's moved closer to give Matt something to lean on if he wants it. maybe his bedside manner isn't so bad, after all. )
